TEA staff should provide content that is accessible to all users, regardless of a disability. Accessibility standards improve the web experience for everyone and are required by state and federal law.
Remember that all external websites must follow the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) rules in Chapter 206 and Chapter 213 as well as the Federal Section 508 standards and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 II. All websites must be tested for accessibility before acceptance by TEA. We prefer that the site be tested by an organization with a track record of performing accessibility testing. If the vendor or grantee is experienced in accessibility testing, we will accept a completed VPAT template that verifies that the site has been tested and meets standards. The site cannot go live until accessibility has been verified.
If you need help with accessibility of your webpage or website, submit a Service Desk ticket and select the “accessibility help” option. A member from the web design and development team will reach out to you to for more information and the site or page URL.
